Millions Lost After Wire Transfer System Hacked.

Reports have surfaced that three major U.S. banks have lost millions after the device used to process wire transfers was hacked.  Details are scarce but it looks like a Distributed Denial of Service DDoS was used to target the wire transfer system and not the whole network.

This attack suggests the need for long term planning and surveillance of the wire transfer switch as well as a high level of sophistication.  These devices are high risk devices and should be rather well protected.  There has been a statement that this attack is not connected to the recent Cyber hactivists targeting U.S. banks.
